Why Velocity Blocks

Free, and nothing to sign up for

The APK, the Windows app and the browser version have the whole game unlocked. No ads, no account, no tracking.

Plays offline

Every track, the editor, your times, medals and ghosts live on your device.

Smooth on modest phones

Graphics pick Low, Medium or High by themselves to keep the frame rate up. The physics run at a fixed 100 Hz either way.

Already have it?

The Android and Windows apps look for new versions by themselves, at most once a day, and ask before updating. Tap Update now: the update downloads in the app and installs over the top, and your times, medals, ghosts and tracks stay as they are. (APKs older than 1.2.2 download it in the browser once; older than 1.2.0, install the new one by hand.)

24 tracks

Three worlds, one clock

Every track is a sprint against the timer: a 3-2-1 countdown, a 10 ms clock, checkpoints in any order, and an instant restart when a run goes wrong.

  • Stadium, A01 to A12: from the White warm-ups to the Black Grand Tour
  • Desert, D01 to D06: sand off the road, dunes, mesas and sunsets
  • Water, W01 to W06: bridges and jumps over lakes and rivers, splash zones
  • Bronze, Silver and Gold, then the Author medal: an autopilot has to finish every track, and its time is the one to beat

Desert and Water

Off the road is slow. In the lake is worse.

Ground-level roads have no barriers, so you can cut across the grass or the sand, but they hold you to about 100 km/h. A checkpoint only counts between its posts, so shortcuts can't skip one.

Drop into the water and you're back at the last checkpoint, with the clock still running. Prefer a friendlier ride? Turn on Walls on all roads; those times are kept apart.

Car, bike, truck

Pick a ride, fire the nitro

The car comes with four bodies (Racer, Buggy, Muscle and Formula) that look different and drive the same. The bike and the truck handle their own way and keep their own records and medals.

Nitro sits under your left thumb and recharges six seconds after every boost. Turbo and boost pads on the road add more.

Want it to look real? Switch the look to Realistic for the Sport, Coupe and Sedan, the Cafe Racer bike or the LCT 3000 '95 truck.

Real handling

Learn the line, then lose it

Turn on the racing line and the road shows you what a pace driver would do: green for full throttle, yellow to lift, red to brake. It plans with the car's real grip and braking, and custom tracks get theirs worked out in the background.

  • Downforce: fast corners hold more grip than slow ones
  • ABS brakes and traction control (Normal, or Low to let the rear wheels spin)
  • Tap the brake while steering to drift
A08 Hairpins: the racing line turns yellow and red on the road ahead of the car before a hairpin
Ghosts and replays

Race yourself

Your personal best is saved and raced as a ghost, with split times at every checkpoint. Finish and the results card counts your medals in.

Watch the run back from chase, far and trackside cameras at full, half or quarter speed.

Track editor

Snap. Test. Share.

Fifteen block types on a 32 × 32 grid with eight height levels: straights, curves, slopes, boost and turbo pads, jump ramps, splash zones and water.

  • Rotate, erase and undo, with route checks as you build
  • An autopilot check, then test drives: your first finish sets the author time
  • Save to My tracks, or export and import .vbtrack.json files

Your controls

Drive it your way

Steer with the arrow buttons, an on-screen wheel or by tilting the phone. Drive with analog gas and brake bars, or round on/off pedals. Auto-accelerate is one switch away.

Your driver profile holds a name, a photo that floats above your car (it never leaves the phone), the colour, the body and the camera. Keyboard and gamepad work too.
